What Exactly is “Brain-Based Chiropractic?”

At Connect Chiropractic and Wellness, we provide a brain-based approach to chiropractic care. Brain-Based Chiropractic is a specific way for a practitioner to perform an examination and address any symptoms a patient may have.

We look at things from a neurological perspective to determine how the brain contributes to any dysfunction. Then we assess what needs to be done to alleviate the symptom, as well as help retrain the brain to work as it’s supposed to.

In addition, we perform a Stress Response Evaluation that objectively measures your bodies physiological response to stress and how well you can recover back to normal. This is done by reading key key health measurements, including an EEG that measures your brain waves. By objectively measuring your stress response there is no guessing when it comes to how well you can handle different kinds of stressors in your life. We look at all of these measurements to determine a care plan specific to you with a goal of increasing your brain and nervous system function.

Who Can Benefit?

The short answer is: everyone! As part of our regular new patient paperwork, we ask some health history questions to help us determine how brain-based chiropractic may be of benefit to you. Our diagnostic testing will give us a good idea of what’s going on with your brain and nervous system.

Armed with this information, we can tailor care to your particular needs. In addition to specific chiropractic adjustments, we may combine visual, auditory and proprioceptive activities to promote neurological well-being.

Brain-based therapies can help athletes optimize performance by training the brain to integrate sensory feedback more quickly. It’s also a unique approach to addressing issues such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Concussion
  • Depression
  • Dizziness
  • Learning disorders
  • Migraines
  • Vertigo

What to Expect

We’ll talk with you in-depth about your health history, which will include questions about your stress, memory and sleep. In your initial evaluation, we’ll conduct tests to learn how your nervous system is functioning.

Brain-based care is customized for your individual situation and goals. Your assessment and care will vary if you have a neurological condition, injury, or are simply wanting to fine-tune your function and increase performance.
